Constructed in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel for the Universal Exhibition, the Eiffel Tower symbolises Paris and human genius throughout the whole world.
It was to celebrate the year 2000 that the Eiffel Tower glittered for the first time. A magical illumination in the Paris sky, and an eagerly-awaited spectacle every night, five minutes of sparkling mark the beginning of each hour after nightfall. The flashing light presented here is an authentic lamp which has helped to make the Eiffel Tower sparkle. The sparkling effect was designed by Pierre Bideau, a renowned light designer.
Set on a flexible mild steel base, similar to the puddle iron (malleable wrought iron) used by Gustave Eiffel, this collector’s piece is produced in a limited edition of 300 numbered examples.
